Matthew 16: 18-19
Pius XI is the first pope to use the radio as a means of pastorally reaching the world.
The Mother of the Redeemer goes before us and continually strengthens us in faith, in our vocation and in our mission. By her example of humility and openness to God’s will she helps us to transmit our faith in a joyful proclamation of the Gospel to all, without reservation. In this way our mission will be fruitful, because it is modeled on the motherhood of Mary. To her let us entrust our journey of faith, the desires of our heart, our needs and the needs of the whole world, especially of those who hunger and thirst for justice and peace. Let us then together invoke her: Holy Mother of God!

O God, who didst give to Thy servant Benedict the grace to exercise with fidelity the Petrine office and serve Thy people as the visible source and foundation of unity in faith and communion, accept the prayers we offer with gratitude for his years of faithful ministry in Thy Church, and, in Thy mercy, grant him both strength and grace to serve Thee in the manner to which Thou callest him, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

It is he who comes to encounter us! This will be a year in which we grow ever more convinced of God's mercy." Read More
